Case Summary
Crash Type Multi-vehicle to object(s)
Configuration Rear end
Summary Vehicle #1 and Vehicle #2 were westbound; V1 was in lane 1, and V2 was in lane 3. V1 departed the road to the right onto a paved shoulder, then re-entered the road and traveled across lane one and lane two, into lane three. The front of V1 impacted the back of V2. After impact, both vehicles entered counterclockwise yaws and departed the road to the left into a depressed grass median. V1 impacted a cable guardrail barrier with the front plane, climbed over the barrier, and rolled four quarter-turns to the right. V2 impacted the cable guardrail barrier with the front plane. During the rollover event, the non-restrained V1 driver was completely ejected from V1.
